This role is advertised on a Local Pay 1 - Salary range is £95,114 - £115,440.

Due to the promotion of the current post holder, we are delighted to share this exciting opportunity for a dynamic and high-achieving individual to join the Nursing and Quality Team at CNTW.

We are looking to appoint a Deputy Director of Nursing and Quality who will drive improvement through compassion; taking forward the implementation of our nursing priorities, to lead the delivery of excellent standards of patient safety, care and experience, and be a role model to our nursing workforce.

The post holder will be required to be part of the Executive Director On Call Rota.

 

Main duties of the job

Working closely with the Executive Director of Nursing, Therapies and Quality Assurance, you will provide strategic, and value based professional leadership for our talented nursing workforce and will ensure that our nursing practice is of the highest possible standard. The post-holder will lead specific work programmes e.g. CQC, physical health care, safer staffing and restrictive practices, and lead on / contribute to initiatives and programmes to ensure robust evidence based clinical practice, clinical governance and patient safety and experience.

The post-holder will lead on the development of the Quality Account.

The post-holder will be required to deputise for the Executive Director of Nursing, Therapies & Quality Assurance at local, regional and national level as required. 

Responsible for the line management of identified teams / functions within the Executive Director of Nursing, Therapies & Quality Assurance’s portfolio.

Responsible for the joint management and support for the academic staff i.e. Professor, Associate Professors.

Ensure systems and processes are in place to support ongoing registration in line with the CQC and our regulatory bodies.

As a Deputy Director of Nursing & Quality, the post-holder will be responsible for the development of the overall nursing strategy for the organisation, including representing the Trust on system wide ICS nursing leadership forums, representing the Trust on all matters regarding pre and post basic nurse education, including liaison with education and university partners and representing the Trust externally both regionally and nationally on nurse educational forums and assemblies.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nursing Qualification.
  • Appropriate management experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent.
  • Research qualification.

Training

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of CPD.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience as a nurse operating at a senior clinical level.
  • Significant experience of working within a mental health / forensic setting.
  • Successful track record of clinical practice and clinical supervision of nursing practice.
  • Experience at a senior level where exposure to work at Executive level has been experienced.
  • Experience of effective partnership working with a range of agencies and stakeholders including University and other academic institutions.
  • Experience of implementing service change / reconfiguration and modernising services.
  • Experience of providing specialist advice when required to Directors.
  • Broad clinical experience.
  • Working at Regional / National level.
  • Developing policies and strategies.
  • Experience leading across wide range of nursing staff.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of utilising appreciative inquiry to deliver change.
  • Experience of working within an acute general setting.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Detailed knowledge of the professional agenda as it relates to mental health nursing learning disability and adult nursing.
  • Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a range of work procedures and practices and / or specialist knowledge over more than one discipline / function acquired over a significant period.
  • Finance and budgetary management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of local and national policy.
  • Has Undertaken and participated in research projects.
