Hours:  3 days per week

We seek an innovative and forward thinking Advanced Physiotherapist to join the Community Neurorehabilitation  physiotherapy team at Walkergate Park. You will be part of the Multiple Sclerosis and Regional Disability Team. 

As the Community neurorehabilitation team we provide specialist neurorehabilitation to people with a range of complex neurological conditions.  Your role may involve working  at Walkergate Park, patient's houses, in the community or other settings as required.  You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide a holistic, patient centred approach to neurorehabilitation.   The physiotherapy team has an established supervision structure, and you will be supported to attend and also help deliver the in service training programme. 

You must be passionate and experienced in neurorehabilitation and have advanced neuro-physiotherapy assessment and treatment skills.  You will have advanced knowledge and skills in seating, orthotics and spasticity management.  You will have highly specialist knowledge of the effects of cognition, behavioural and perceptual problems on neurological patients.  You will require excellent interpersonal skills to work closely and sensitively with patients and their families.  You must be experienced in supervising and supporting more junior members of the team with their development.

To be responsible for the advanced assessment and management and physiotherapy service provision for service users who have a variety of complex physical needs, diverse presentations and a range of mental health, learning disabilities and / or Neurological conditions.

To manage and provide on-going advanced physiotherapy assessment and treatment using evidence based practice.

To provide leadership to and to work as part of the physiotherapy team within their specialist clinical area.

The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that high quality, individualised care is delivered and that this maximises independence and promotes recovery and wellbeing.

To facilitate the delivery of Physiotherapy Student Education within the clinical setting.

To provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.

To provide clinical supervision and leadership to staff as delegated by the team lead.

To act as an identified deputy in the absence of the team lead.

Participate in the planning development and evaluation of local services leading on defined projects as agreed with the team lead.

  • State registration with HCPC
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate courses / CPD e.g. MSc, post graduate diploma
  • Further post graduate training relevant to the post

  • Registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven clinical experience of working with service users’ family and carers in delivery of physiotherapy treatment plans
  • Multi-disciplinary team work
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of a wide range of conditions and physiotherapy approaches
  • Advanced level of Physiotherapy clinical knowledge and skill in the relevant field.
  • Experience of supervising more junior physios/ students / non registered staff
  • Evidence of leading and participating in service evaluation or audit.

  • Evidence of relevant validated clinical post graduate training
  • Member of relevant clinical CSP interest groups
  • Attendance at an introductory leadership / management course
