Job overview

The post holder will hold a HCPC paramedic registration. They will be bring their expertise as a clinical practitioner and also their experience in education delivery to develop and assess education and development needs and design, develop and deliver evidence based innovative education and training methods and packages as part of the education centre for excellence.


We are asking for a minimum of a Level 3 Teaching qualification or significant experience in education and training. Whilst in post there will opportunity to develop and enrol  onto a level 5 or 6 programme to enhance knowledge and support learners within education.


There is a requirement to provide end to end formal assessment of all academic programmes (CAVA) and ensure that EFSA and all accrediting bodies requirements are fully met and managed. You will be given the chance to gain the CAVA qualification whilst in post.


They will develop and deliver the current programme of work looking at standards and explore potential developments in flexible education delivery and clinical simulation whilst building relationships and working closely with internal and external stakeholders.  The post holder may be required to work in collaboration with the commercial training as dictated by service demand.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide educational and clinical advice and guidance to students and wider staff.
  • To undertake operational duties for a set number of shifts/hours for observations/practice assessments in their field(s) of delivery, as determined by the Trust observing/practice assessments including event clinical cover.
  • Undertake the role of Course Tutor, Personal Tutor as required/directed in support of University/Apprenticeship/Core programmes of study
  • Monitor student performance in all aspects of education
  • Support the delivery of University Modules 
  • Develop learning materials for a range of clinical and non-clinical courses 
  • Assist in the design and implementation of programmes of education development, documentation, course material and CPD 
  • Work towards gaining associate lecturer status with HE providers and carry duties accordingly.
  • Assist to manage and develop Simulation exercises and OSCE’s for students in line with awarding body requirements.
  • Required to work on a flexible six day roster attracting USH when accrued.

Education and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • HCPC registered Paramedic or NMC registered nurse
  • Educated to degree level (level 6) in relevant subject or equivalent relevant experience
  • PGCE/Cert Ed/relevant teaching qualification (level 6)
  • Evidence or recent significant CPD
  • Enhanced CARe module / clinical skills or equivalent (level 6 minimum)
  • Associate Lecturer status with relevant HEI’s (or prepared to undertake)
  • Prepared to achieve development accredited by Higher Education as specified by the Trust within 12 months of starting post in order to be able to teach on higher education programmes/Trust programmes and achieve “Trainer Status” for multiple programmes (including CRT and moving and handling, safeguarding)
  • CAVA assessing qualification (or working towards)
  • Experience of delivering learning & education
  • Safeguarding adults and children level 3
  • Clinical leadership qualification (or willing to undertake)
  • Significant experience in clinical practice as a HCPC registered paramedic / NMC registered nurse
  • An understanding of national qualification
  • Experience of clinical simulation delivery
  • Significant proven experience and ability to design, develop

  • Knowledge and understanding of the urgent care clinical education agenda
  • Knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues in relation to learning and development
  • An understanding of the key issues facing the NHS and ambulance services
