Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Urgent Treatment Centre’s are now in the exciting position to recruit both full and part-time Band 6 Nurse Practitioners to our busy service where new colleagues can look forward to a warm welcome from the entire team. In alliance with other Health Care providers in the region, the Urgent Treatment Centre’s manage and deliver care for acute minor injuries and minor illness within the community.

Main duties of the job

• The service is GP led, open 7 days a week from 08:00-22:00 and works closely in collaboration with our alliance partners across the city. Whilst our Urgent Care Practitioners work independently to deliver care to all age ranges and presenting conditions, after an initial supernumerary period they also have ongoing support from our experienced team of Nurse Practitioners and GP’s.
• This post is open to Registered Nurses / Nurse Practitioners with primary and/or urgent care experience who can demonstrate their ability to work within the community in an urgent, unscheduled care environment. You will need to have the ability, or be willing to develop the necessary skills to undertake assessment, diagnosis, treatment/referral and discharge of patients with minor illness and minor injuries. Qualifications in clinical skills and/or Non-Medical Prescribing and the ability to read and interpret X-rays would be desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
