Children's  Speech and Language Therapy

Part Time 22.5 hrs per week, permanent role

We are looking for an enthusiastic speech and language therapy assistant with good organisational and personal skills to join our team of therapists and assistants, working with  children and young people.

You will work under the direction and supervision of a registered therapist  to support children and young people with speech, language and communication needs. You will support assessments and independently provide intervention following direction and guidance from registered staff.

Experience of working with children and young people is essential.

You need a relevant NVQ Level 3.

The service is delivered in nurseries, schools ( mainstream and special), clinics and family homes.

Main duties of the job

To work with a caseload of children and young people under the direction and supervision of a registered therapist in accordance with departmental protocols and clinical pathways.

To carry out designated individual/group therapy programmes in either single episodes or for a defined period of time in a range of appropriate settings. These may include children’s homes, schools, nurseries, clinics.

To adopt a family centred or child centred approach and have a sensitive approach to therapy.  To collaborate with children, young people and their family/carers in all aspects of therapy.

To keep accurate and up to date records of children and young people’s care, in accordance with the departmental policies.

To respond to, record and report any adverse events or incidents relating to the child or their therapy in an appropriate and timely manner.

  • Car driver/owner with a UK driving licence and insurance for business use (It is unlikely that public transport will meet this requirement)
