Job overview

The post holder will be required to work within the memory assessment and community dementia service.

The post holder will have responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of occupational therapy to individual clients and their families and carers via a range of evidence-based interventions. They will be expected to provide cover for peers across the Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust, planned or unplanned as required.

 

The post holder will ensure that all organisational systems and processes are adhered to. The post holder will manage and organise competing and conflicting priorities and manage change in complex situations. The post holder will be a resource of clinical knowledge and competence in the service area contributing to staff and service development.

The post holder will be required to undertake assessments, and to provide evidence-based clinical interventions to maximise independence and occupational participation as required by service needs or complex presentations. 

The post holder will be a resource of clinical knowledge and competence in the service area. The post holder will be responsible for providing assessment, intervention and audit relevant to their specialism.  The post holder will be expected to supervise other staff.

  • To assess service users using a variety of assessment tools, specialised observational and communication skills.
  • To involve and empower both the individual and/or their carer to make decisions about their care and treatment now and for the future
  • To provide a learning environment for staff and students.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Registered Occupational Therapist with post registration experience

Experience of working with and conducting assessments with individuals with a diagnosis of dementia or recent experience of working with older adults and conducting comprehensive assessments.

Responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of occupational therapy to individual clients and their families and carers via a range of evidence-based interventions. 

To manage and organise competing and conflicting priorities and manage change in complex situations.

To be a resource of clinical knowledge and competence in the service area contributing to staff and service development.

To be a motivated and dynamic individual who has a commitment to the positive development of this service whose aim is to support people to live well with dementia.

Qualifcations

Essential criteria
  • Relevant Professional Qualification in OT
  • Current unrestricted registration with HCPC
  • Substantial experience in a dementia or mental health setting
  • Significant experience of undertaking assessment, formulation, risk assessment and positive risk taking
  • Must have full driving licence and access to a motor vehicle for business use
