Job overview
An Exciting Opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Ward Manager at our Hearsall Ward at our Caludon Centre.
The post holder will be responsible for assisting the Ward Manager in all duties relating to the overall continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care. They will have regular responsibility for managing the hospital site as nominated bleepholder, triaging all out of hours calls through the duty bleep ensuring these are dealt with effectively or delegated to the appropriate person/service.

Main duties of the job
- To manage/co-ordinate, in the absence of the Ward Manager, and lead a team of staff and provide clinical advice and support as necessary.
- To provide effective clinical management to ensure the delivery of a high quality inpatient service.
· To ensure that clinical practice within the area of responsibility is consistent with current knowledge and supports service provision.
· To ensure effective communication and working relationships with the Multi Disciplinary Team and other key providers – statutory and non statutory.
· To ensure and undertake the assessment, planning, evaluation and review of individualised plans of care in conjunction with the patient.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Mental Nurse
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Mentoring and assessing ENB 998 or equivalent
- Management of Actual and Potential Aggression (MAPA) Training
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Understanding of current health policy initiatives and the implications for service delivery
- Good verbal and written communication
- Understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983
- Able to understand the importance of and compliance to policies and procedures
- Plan, supervise and organise the work of others
Experience
Essential criteria
- Recent experience working and managing within an inpatient setting
- Experience in managing and leading a team of staff in a clinical setting
- Experience of working as a member of a multi disciplinary team
- Involvement in employee development reviews/ appraisals
Other
Essential criteria
- Must be willing to undertake DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) at enhanced level
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
