An exciting opportunity for a B7 Bladder and Bowel Care Clinical Nurse Specialist has become available to work within the Bladder and Bowel Care / Continence Team within the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. (UHCW)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking specialist nurse who would wish to become part of this successful team.

The post holder will be a key member of the senior clinical workforce, with responsibility for the clinical oversight for Bladder and Bowel Care provision across the UHCW Community Group offering.

The post holder will work with the Bladder and Bowel Team (Continence Team) and across the UHCW Community Group providing specialist bladder and bowel assessment, care planning and advice, supervision, and support for clinicians across the city to ensure the delivery of quality, safe and effective ways of working within bladder and bowel care pathways. To provide clinical and managerial leadership and expert advice for the bladder and bowel care provision ensuring the service is clinically safe, timely, efficient, effective, and equitable and patient focused.

Please note a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle that can be used for business purposes is essential for this role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will demonstrate a systematic approach to the monitoring, review and evaluation of bladder and bowel care provision and ensuring high quality care is provided to patients/clients.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring Bladder and Bowel Care team staff are competent and confident in delivering responsive nursing care provision and clinical pathways in line with Trust policies, pathways, guidelines, and SOP’s.

The post holder will support ANP’s and relevant clinical leaders across UHCW Community Group and service to lead competent and confident community nursing staff in delivering responsive bladder and bowel care provision and clinical pathways in line with Trust policies, pathways, guidelines, and SOP’s. The post holder will work with other Clinical Nurse Practitioners, Clinicians, and team managers to deliver a city-wide approach to improving the standard of bladder and bowel care, including delivering specialist training.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

 To be a proactive member of the UHCW Community Group senior clinical workforce, who together ensure the effective provision of all of its services.

 To be a visible, credible role model and advocate for high quality, safe and equitable bladder and bowel care provision across the City

 Promote a culture where staff feel empowered and accountable for bladder and bowel care provision, improvement and clinical developments at local level.

 Provide professional bladder and bowel care provision and expert advice and guidance within the UHCW Community Group delivery, ensuring that bladder and bowel care provision is of a consistently and sustainable high standard in line with national guidance, Trust policy and evidence-based practice.

Develop, implement monitor, and review clinical guidelines, policies and procedures for UHCW Community Group in line with best practice guidance

Work with the Practice Development Facilitators in the development, monitoring and reviewing of the clinical competencies to ensure staff are competent with the right level of knowledge, skill and expertise to deliver bladder and bowel  care provision in the most effective and efficient way.

 Ensure that clinical safety and high-quality care is at the centre of bladder and bowel care provision.
