Who are we? We are a Dietetic Department at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire based just under 10 minutes from the M69/M6 interchange. We are diverse in both skill and experience but also in personnel. We are a department of nearly seventy Dietitians (across Coventry and Rugby Hospitals) whose specialities include gastroenterology, critical care, surgery, stroke, major trauma, oncology, renal, diabetes, specialist weight management, paediatrics and community nutrition support. We also provide student placements to neighbouring universities in Coventry and Birmingham. As a department we are actively involved in both research and audit and actively encourage staff to identify and attend courses relevant to their role and future development.
We are one of the largest acute Trusts in the country specialising in major trauma, cardiothoracics and neurosciences and that’s just the beginning. Main duties of the job
Who are you? You will have been working as a Dietitian for at least 12 months and be ready to apply what you have already learned whilst also expanding your knowledge and skill further in a Trust which offers you a breadth of diversity and experience. Or you may be a well-established senior dietitian who is looking to gain further insight. In either instance you will be supported through your UHCW journey by our friendly and experienced team of Dietetic staff.
The clinical caseload will be general oncology and haematology patients however you will also provide cover to your colleagues in the wider Dietetic oncology team. In addition to seeing patients on the inpatient wards and in the Arden Cancer Centre there are also some outpatient clinics. The Oncology dietitians are part of wider Oncology MDT services. In this post there is opportunity to work across teams and disciplines. The post holder will be supported by Macmillan Cancer Professional support services with whom you would be encouraged to engage.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To actively participate in the forward planning of the department.
- To assist in the development and updating of departmental evidence based clinical guidelines, policies, procedures and patient information.
- To follow policies and clinical guidelines and propose changes to working practices in own area based on current evidence and best practice.
- To plan and prioritise own workload and evaluate own practice.
To plan and organise the clinical supervision of student dietitians including planning, timetables and written assessments. - To carry out nutrition education & training for nurses, support workers, catering and medical staff as required.
- To participate in the departmental Clinical Governance programme including evidence based practice work shops, clinical audit and reporting of clinical risks.
