An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Medicine Group as an Operational Support Manager.

This is a great opportunity for those wishing to join a fast paced and forward thinking group, supporting the achievement of key performance indicators and further developments.

The post holder will need to have management experience, be a highly visible and credible manager and have strong leadership qualities. A focus on ensuring the development and provision of a comprehensive, high quality, patient centered services. The candidate will need to have excellent interpersonal skills allowing them to work closely with Administrative, Senior Management and Clinical Teams etc.

This post is to support with the management of the department key performance indicators including:

  • Ambulance Handover Delays – 15 and 0 minutes
  • 12 hours from decision to admit to patients being moved from ED
  • Supporting the improvements within the 4 hour target within the department

 

The role is primarily a liaison role between the Acute & Emergency Medicine Group, the managers of the day of the other clinical groups and the site management team to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

The other key function of the role will be targeted to support development projects across the Emergency medicine footprint as defined by the senior operational team. 

You will need to be resilient, confident & possess skills that will enable you to understand the service: you will be creative in your approach to problem solving and have an ability to think differently.

This role is being advertised as a developmental opportunity for someone wanting to start their career in operational management. You will join the team with a clear plan to develop to a Band 7 Operations and Performance Manager over an 18month period, with competencies requiring evidence and sign off throughout the period. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Oversight of group performance against key performance indicators on a daily basis
  • The collation and management of the escalations to support discharges from group
  • Maintenance of an accurate group bed state
  • Liaison across the Groups to support with bed flow out if ED and acute medicine
  • Implementation of escalation triggers and working with flow and Nurse in charge teams
  • Supporting to ensure ambulance offloads occur within target timeframes
  • Working across organisational boundaries to support with ensuring mental health patients plans are updated and all stakeholders are informed of ongoing plans
  • Ensuring all clinical staff are appraised of the department and trust position with respect to flow and pending plans.
