Are you an enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious Physiotherapist with a strong interest in Neuro Rehabilitation? We have an exciting opportunity for you!  

We are looking for an experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our Neuro Outpatient Rehabilitation Team here at UHCW NHS Trust.  

This is a perfect job for an experienced Band 5 or current Band 6 Physiotherapist who is looking for a new opportunity to develop their neurology and leadership skills further.

This role will allow you to work in a friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary environment with a focus on developing clinical skills and improve the services we provide for our patients.

You will be well supported by the Band 7 Team Leader and other experienced Neuro Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and clinical psychologist in supervisions, peer reviews and formulations. We have close links with the Coventry and Warwickshire Regional Parkinson’s Service and UHCW MS Team.

You will be working closely with our therapy support worker and assistance practitioner and take an active role in supervising junior members of the team and students to support them to develop their neurological skills.

The successful candidate will be treating clients aged 18 and older and you will be providing high quality client-led and goal focused rehabilitation across a wide variety of long-term neurological conditions.

Main duties of the job

  • Using specialist and evidence based/ client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in an Out-Patient Neurological Rehabilitation Unit.
  • To utilise individual and/or Manage a caseload of patients with varying neurological diagnosis and or /complex needs, group work skills as appropriate in order to achieve agreed therapeutic goals.
  • To have a specialist knowledge of a range of neurological conditions and to use this specialist knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to plan and provide clinical interventions in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure development of junior staff and undergraduate Physiotherapy students through supervision, training and annual appraisal.
  • Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of clinical practice & service development within area.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust Physiotherapy service.
  • Take a lead for information management to ensure high quality data which is recorded, evaluated & reported in a timely manner.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  1. Be professional, legally responsible & accountable for all aspects of own work and activities, to manage clinical risk within own clinical caseload
  2. Carry a clinical caseload of highly complex patients, provide advanced therapeutic assessment & evaluation and provide detailed written treatment plans with patient centered goals working within an out-patient neurological rehabilitation unit
  3. Work as an autonomous practitioner and member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to team discussions and influencing decisions about patient care programs, taking on the role of care Co-Ordinator and/ or vocational lead where relevant
  4. Carry out treatment, using a broad variety of modalities and clinical reasoning to allow selection of the most appropriate technique evaluating, modifying and recording all interventions and outcomes & adapting them to meet the needs of the patient
  5. Use highly developed manual treatment skills requiring coordination, sensation & dexterity
  6. Assist in the production and deliver an annual report specific to own clinical area & participate in the delivery of the Physiotherapy business plan.
