Job overview

The Organisational Development (OD) Officer role is a vital development position within our Organisational Development department, designed to support and contribute to the broad spectrum of OD initiatives and activities, that underpin the UHCW People Strategy.

Main duties of the job

As a foundational role within the Organisational Development (OD) Team, the Band 5 OD Officer supports the implementation and coordination of OD activities in alignment with the UHCW People Strategy.

This developmental position offers the chance to gain specialist knowledge and hands-on experience in OD practices, contributing to the enhancement of organisational culture, leadership development, and team performance. The OD Officer will work under the guidance of senior OD professionals to support various OD interventions and projects, promoting effective change management and continuous improvement within the organisation.

The post holder, with direction and support from the Organisational Development Manager and Team will contribute by:

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Support for OD Strategy Implementation: Assist in the coordination of OD activities that support the UHCW People Strategy, under the guidance of the OD Team.
  • Provision of OD Support: Act as a support point for providing OD advice and guidance to individuals and teams, facilitating the development of a positive organisational culture and effective team dynamics.
  • Contribution to Development Programs: Support the delivery and evaluation of key development programmes, including leadership training and management skills development, contributing to the nurturing of future organisational leaders.
  • OD Intervention Support: Assist in the scoping, designing, and implementing of OD interventions, focusing on areas such as coaching, mentoring, performance improvement, and team development.
  • Evaluation and Reporting: Support the evaluation of the impact of OD interventions, assisting in the collection and analysis of feedback and outcomes.
  • Contribute to project management activities of the team e.g. developing project plans; drafting progress reports; suggesting key performance measures, raising issues and risks etc.
  • Support planning, administration and logistics for OD e.g. taking responsibility for organising events and conferences; for liaising with internal and external parties, booking resources and managing and delegating support from the wider team.
  • Curate, develop and maintain up-to-date information and OD resources for staff use
  • Support the develop content and communications that support the work of the team e.g. presentations, reports, emails, newsletters, marketing material etc.
  • Support the integration of equality, diversity, and inclusion practices in OD
  • Develop effective working relationships with colleagues, peers across the Trust, internal and external stakeholders, maintaining a professional manner that reflects the values and principles of the Trust and OD
  • Use own initiative to make changes that improves the work of the team and supports establishing successful OD practices.
