Are you an outstanding Clinical Psychologist working in Clinical Health Psychology looking for new challenges and career development? We have an exciting opportunity to work as a Consultant Practitioner Psychologist to lead the Intestinal Failure Service at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.

This newly created substantive post will provide you with an excellent opportunity to lead developments in psychological provision for intestinal failure within the Trust. We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and compassionate person to develop an expanding team of skilled and highly motivated psychological professionals to provide high quality care to people with intestinal failure.

The post holds permanent 37.5 hours at Band 8c - however, applications for part-time hours will also be welcomed.

You will be based at University Hospital in Coventry and, as well as service delivery, the post will provide leadership and strategic direction to the future development of psychological services in severe intestinal failure including wider gastrointestinal services within the hospital. You will also be providing clinical supervision to other clinical psychologists and colleagues as required.

1. The post holder will operationally lead and manage the Severe Intestinal Failure (SIF) Psychology Service, providing evidence-based specialist assessment and interventions for patients and families referred to the service. They will be responsible for maintaining professional practice standards within the service. They will provide a high-quality psychology service and maintain a clinical caseload appropriate to the grade, and to provide supervision and consultation to psychology staff and colleagues where indicated.

2. The SIF Psychology provision will involve a direct and indirect psychology service to patients, families and to staff. The post holder will be responsible for developing the service including identifying service priorities, in collaboration with colleagues; recruitment of staff; providing and/or ensuring appropriate line management and other management, professional and clinical supervision is in place for all members of the service. They will also maintain and develop an overall vision for the service. 

3. The post holder will actively support service development and will seek opportunities for further developing and improving psychological provision for wider gastrointestinal services in conjunction with Head of Psychological Services. This will include supporting the development of service proposals and funding bids as required.
