We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Risk Manager to join us at UHCW.  This role will provide a fantastic opportunity to help shape the future development of Risk Management and Assurance across the organisation. 

Accountable to the Associate Director of Quality you will work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders to embed professional, robust and consistent Risk Management systems and processes in line with the Board’s Risk Management Strategy.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Risk Management along with specialist knowledge of Risk and Assurance, and a clear understanding of risk management and its application in health settings. You should be educated to Degree level or equivalent, preferably with a qualification in risk/governance.

Main duties of the job

• The post holder will support the development and implementation of the Risk Management Strategy for the Trust. This will include the development and maintenance of the Trust Risk Register in an advisory capacity in collaboration with the Group Triumvirates, Corporate Leads and Accountable Executives.
• The post holder will coordinate the development of risk management functions throughout the 
Trust in line with local, regional and national guidance and statutory requirements.
• To lead on ensuring risk information systems align with the principles outlined in the Risk Management Strategy, liaising with the system provider to further develop the product and reporting tools.
• Oversee the Risk Committee function (monthly) and lead on monthly escalation and assurance producing reports for the Board Sub Committees and Trust Board promoting oversight, assurance and visibility of risk reports.
• Build relationships with staff to ensure effective communication of risks, risk management and promote a culture of risk management across the Trust.
• Meet regularly with Senior colleagues, including Chief Officers, Non-Executives, Corporate and Triumvirates for the purpose of identifying changes to risks, the mechanisms of assurance and control and actions to reduce risks.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• Deliver and evaluate risk training requirements through a training needs analysis and ensure that a Trust-wide risk management training programme is established and maintained. Facilitate training sessions and awareness raising around risk management.

• Interpret national and local changes in legislation and policy relating to risk management and ensure these are reflected within Trust policies and implementation is monitored and reviewed for their impact.

• Establish processes to ensure risk analysis reports provide themes and trends to enable senior leadership teams to provide assurance that risks are being managed effectively.
• Develop systems and processes which monitor, record, report and ultimately improve the 
management of risk across the organisation. 
• In partnership with the Trusts Quality Systems Lead, mature the risk register form design and create supporting dashboards to provide assurance of a robust risk management framework.
• On request, review and draft responses to external regulators (e.g. CQC) and advisory bodies to provide assurance of risk management in the Trust
• Provide information about risk management as required for regional and national data collection and audit.
• Provide specialist advice and support on risk management across the Trust.
• Responsible for providing and receiving highly complex, sensitive or contentious information in relation to risk management.
