We are seeking a dynamic individual to join a rapidly expanding group of clinicians and clinical academics in Rheumatology at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW) Applications are open to candidates with an interest in in systemic autoimmune connective tissue diseases and early arthritis  and with appropriate experience ST5 level . The principal focus of the department is upon excellent clinical service and research.

 

The purpose of this post is to provide clinical support to the service, including hot clinics and middle grade on call cover for the Giant Cell arteritis service and referrals during regular working hours ; participate in education/training, specialist clinics including joint injection clinics and CTD clinics. The successful candidate will do regular weekly clinics based at one or more sites: UHCW, St Cross Hosptital and City of Coventry Health Centre.  You will develop a research interest which aligns with the into the overall strategy for the department, to improve innovation in the application of AI in healthcare, specifically Rheumatology. The post is based at UHCW NHS Trust – but does involve clinics at other sites

Main duties of the job

As part of our commitment to patients and delivery of a world class service for all we have created the UHCW Improvement (UHCWi) System in partnership with the Virginia Mason Institute in Seattle; this involves a structured approach to removing waste and putting the patient first using a lean management system and methodologies.  Our culture and ways of working reflect and embed the practices and methodologies of UHCWi. You are expected, where identified, to attend and complete relevant training and development opportunities to support this post.

 

Clinical commitments

 The clinical fellow will provide clinical support to the Department under the aegis of the Clinical

Service Lead/Head of Service, Dr K Chaudhuri

 

1) To contribute and manage the day-to-day clinical activity – this involves clinics; result acknowledgement; responding to patient / GP queries, hot clinics, injection clinics, assistance to the Day Case Unit and specialist nurses and any other activity considered appropriate for the role

2) To participate in the regular departmental MDT, QUIPs activities; audit and service development projects

3) To provide once a week “on call” from 0900-1700 – as part of the rota for our resident doctors

4) To develop a subspeciality interest in Connective tissue diseases and vasculitis

This is a 0.8 WTE clinical post which should help with working meeting the competency for the rheumatology component of the CCT
