A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Trauma Surgeon to join our Trauma Team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a major interest in orthopaedic trauma management and will have a central role in the ongoing development of trauma pathways and the trauma service as a whole. 

Our Trauma and Orthopaedic Team at UHCW have undergone a rapid expansion of staff and service provision, along with enhancements of its role and national profile with the development of Warwick Medical School. The team has always maintained a cohesive and friendly relationship with the management team, which has enabled shaping of the expansion and development of Orthopaedic services for the needs of the local population.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be on a job plan which consists of 10 Programmed Activities (PA's). UHCW will also support the appointee with appropriate support to undertake their revalidation. 

All new consultants will have a nominated mentor allocated from within the Trust and the department also nominates a mentor from within the department. All consultants are required to demonstrate active participation in CPD and audit. 

As a University Teaching Hospital, the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching. Consultants take an active role in the teaching of foundation doctors and CT1/2 on the Warwickshire Surgical Training Scheme, and Specialist Registrars on the Warwick Orthopaedic Training Scheme. 

The Trust houses the latest clinical imaging equipment and was one of the first completely digital hospitals in the UK.
