The successful candidates will be appointed on the new consultant contract which will consist of 10 Programmed Activities (PA’s). This will consist of 7.5 PAs for direct clinical care and 2.5 PA’s for supporting professional activities to enable the post holder to comply with the requirements for revalidation and CPD with further SPA activity negotiable pending taking on roles within the department after the initial six months in post. The DCC commitment will consist of 5.5-6 clinical sessions as outlined above. The trauma on-call commitment is 1 PA per week and carries a supplement of 5% for on-call. Details with regard to the number and arrangement of programmed activities will be agreed with the successful candidate. For trauma care they will join one of the 4 orthopaedic trauma teams, each team being made up of 4 consultants. Duties include fracture clinics, trauma lists and on-call work dealing with a broad mix of trauma including with multiply injured patients.
