Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and proactive Qualified Advanced Practitioners who have the drive and tenacity to develop their professional scope of practice and clinical skills to join our team, and shape and develop  continued high level effective and safe patient care in Urgent Care. 

This is an exciting time to join and be part of an established and friendly team of practitioners and GP's , with opportunities to develop skills and the role of the Advanced Practitioner. Successful applicants will be pivotal to supporting the development of Advanced Practice in the urgent care setting.

We welcome qualified Advanced Practitioners who have a wide range of skills and experience working with adults and children in primary care, urgent care centres and urgent and emergency care. We will support your career development and education and develop your leadership potential working in the urgent care environment, with opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in collaboration with the Emergency Medicine team.

In return for your commitment to the post and service , this post attracts a retention premia which equates to the difference between your current salary spine point and £60,000 ( maximum) paid monthly for a period of 12 months. This will be reviewed after the 12 months. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an experienced registered Advanced Practitioner who has completed a Master's degree in Advanced Clinical Practice and is able to demonstrate capability  for the four pillars of advanced practice including an independent and supplementary prescribing qualification.

The post holder will need to be able to utilise a high level of skill and knowledge to support the managerial and clinical delivery of Advanced practice in the urgent care setting.

The Advanced practitioner must have the ability to make informed decisions within their scope of professional practice, involving patients and the public to ensure high standards of clinical care are delivered to agreed standards and ensure targets and objectives are met.

The Advanced Practitioner will demonstrate high level professional practice  through face to face consultations, safe treatment , use of diagnostic skills  and evaluation of care, using appropriate clinical management plans for patients in Urgent care. 

The Advanced Practitioner will have the opportunity to work within all areas of Urgent care undertaking primary and secondary assessments and management of patients alongside GP colleagues.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Coordinate the care of patients in the Urgent Treatment centre throughout the care pathway with the multi-disciplinary team and clinical services to ensure effective management of patients. 
  • Have highly developed communication and examination skills to enable the maintenance of high quality service provision within at times a complex and challenging environment with conflicting priorities.
  • Proactively identify, diagnose and develop treatment plans for patients requiring urgent intervention and treatment and at risk of developing long term conditions.
  • Assist the clinical and nursing teams at all levels in the assessment and prioritisation of patients in the urgent care pathway, and support a team of trainee Advanced  Practitioners through leadership and clinical supervision to deliver  high quality and effective care.
  •  Using advanced clinical assessment skills, autonomously manage patients with complex needs with undifferentiated diagnosis to ensure that optimum patient care delivery needs are met.
