Come and join us at Coventry and Warwickshire partnership trust for a new opportunity working in collaboration with CWPT colleagues and our community sector provider of substance misuse services, Change Grow Live (CGL). We are looking for an experienced psychologist to support the development of this new service innovation, to enhance the provision of psychosocial interventions within the community, for individuals with difficulties associated with substance misuse.
You will develop supervision processes to support drug and alcohol key workers in the delivery of psychosocial approaches. You will plan and deliver clinical formulation sessions via multidisciplinary meetings and work with CGL managers to identify training needs . You will plan, prepare and deliver skills practice sessions. As this is a new service, there be audit and evaluation process that you will have a significant role in delivering, working alongside service leaders and commissioners. In addition to the direct work with CGL, you will supervise two 8a psychologists/ senior therapists, who will also support CGL with supervision and case formulation and you will work with the service to develop their intervention offer.

Expertise in evidence based therapeutic psychological approaches and understanding of neuropsychological aspects of formulation for people with substance misuse is important in this role. You will have a passion for the client group, ensuring that people with co-occuring needs can access both substance misuse and mental health services. To this end you will have a role in influencing the way in which the dual diagnosis policy is implemented across services so that smooth pathways and transitions are developed for our community.
Working for our organisation
The role is a permanent opportunity, however the substance misuse project is initially for 12 months, with contract renewal subject to positive evaluation. Should the contract not be renewed with the community provider, you will be able to use your skills and expertise within our mental health services in CWPT. The role is offered on a 0.8 WTE basis but if fulltime work is required please speak to us as there may be opportunities to increase hours.
You will be supported in your role by a consultant clinical psychologist who will have time dedicated to this project. This role is managed within the community mental health service and you will be part of a wider family of psychological professionals with access to training and supervision opportunities within Coventry and Warwickshire partnership trust.

- Registration with the HPC in Clinical or Counselling Psychology
Experience

- Substantial experience of working with people with complex mental health needs including substance misuse
- Experience of working with a range of clients, presenting a range of clinical severity and maintenance of professionalism in challenging circumstances.
- Experience of tailoring psychological assessment and intervention to individual needs eg age, culture, setting
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for work .
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Post-doctoral training relevant to the post Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialist assessment methods and therapeutic approaches in relation to the client group.
- Skills in applying this knowledge. Well developed communication skills, suitable to the specialty.
- Experience in providing consultancy to colleagues.
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
