 Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist looking to be part of a friendly and dynamic multi-disciplinary team working with autistic adults  and adults with ADHD?This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join the adult neurodevelopmental team in providing post diagnostic support and intervention. The post holder will provide highly specialised, evidenced based assessments of language and communication differences. You will have regular supervision from the Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist as well as attendance to team CPD sessions..

You will be providing remote and face to face specialist sessions via group and individual therapy. 

 You will be working within a supportive multidisciplinary team which includes a Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist, Psychologists, Nurses, Psychiatry,Occupational Therapists, Experts by Experience and admin.

Main duties of the job

To provide an effective Speech & Language Therapy Service for adults with Speech, Language and Communication Needs, with reference to Trust policies and procedures and also professional standards set out by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and the Health Care Professions Council. 

The post holder will work as a specialist Speech and Language Therapist as part of a multidisciplinary Adults Neurodevelopmental team.  The post will provide interventions for adults with Neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autistic Spectrum Conditions. As a Speech and Language Therapist the role will predominantly work with the client’s communication skills.

The post holder will contribute to the development of services as well as carrying a caseload. The role will include group and individual work The role involves multi agency working across social care, education and the third sector services.

Essential Requirements include:

RCSLT membership and HCPC registration

Excellent communication skills 

Experience of working with autistic adults and adults with adhd.

Driver with access to independent means of transport

  • BSC Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent Or equivalent
  • Unrestricted registration with Health Professions Council (HPC)

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal and communication skills
  • An understanding of the specific contribution of Speech and Language Therapists in Neurodevelopmental services
  • Ability to demonstrate team building, leadership and organisational skills
  • Demonstrates and understanding an ability to practice in a person centred, recovery focussed way

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in working in autism / neurodevelopmental conditions
  • Substantial experience and competence with clients with complex needs, communications issuesr
  • Experience on working as part of an interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary team
  • Experience or interest in working in mental health services
