Do you want to be part of an exciting opportunity to be a Mental Health in Schools Team Leader? 

This position involves shaping Childrens and Young Persons mental health care through the National Mental Health in Schools programme.

MHST’s work in partnership with schools and colleges to support the mental health of their students/pupils. Through focused based CBT interventions, we tailor the support to improve the MH needs of CYP working alongside mental health leads in schools.   

As a Team Lead you will work closely with the Operational Manager and Clinical Leads. Your team lead role will need to have a dedicated focus to ensure that your team is responsive and working in partnership with the mental health leads in school/colleges.  You will have oversight of clinical interventions within your operational responsibilities and develop your team in career and leadership opportunities.  A key part of this role will be ensuring that we are meeting both operational and clinical targets. You will be responsible for line managing clinical staff and working with the clinicians to inform and establish the workforce.

If you have a passion to build positive relationships and have a curiosity to respond to the mental health needs of our CYP in educational settings this role is for you.

You will be helping to drive the national programme at the team and service level which is key to a highly effective MHST offer for our Children and Young People

Main duties of the job

The Mental Health Support Teams (MHST’s) are part of an exciting trailblazer project funded by NHS England, Health Education England & partners with the aim to improve the mental health & wellbeing of children & young people in the community.

Main Responsibilities of the post 

· To support the development and delivery of services, which are responsive to needs and circumstances, at agreed levels of quality and performance 

· To make a leading contribution to the development of an integrated, multi-professional workforce, as part of the NHSE driven Long Term plan transformational change programme 

·  To work collaboratively with other Trust services and external partners to support the delivery of locally and nationally prescribed outcomes 

· Contribute to the development & implementation of responses to relevant national and local policies, programmes and initiatives 

·To work collaboratively with key external stakeholders, conducting themselves in accordance with CWPT organisational principles and values at all times 

·Deputise for the Service Manager at key business unit meetings and partnership meetings, as appropriate

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior supervisory level
  • Relevant qualification or significant experience in clinical children’s field - mental health, neurodevelopment, learning disability

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate and present complex information to a variety of internal and external audiences
  • Strong understanding of national policy in relation to health services for children and young people
  • Good analytical skills and ability to draw conclusions from combinations of qualitative and quantitative information sources and present in a concise manner.
  • Demonstrable capability to plan over short and medium term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of developing and maintaining monitoring systems to measure team performance or quality
  • Experience of managing budgets, involvement in budget setting and working knowledge of financial processes
  • Experience of addressing equality and diversity issues within a service context
