Job overview

Band 5 CAMHS Nurse 

 

Think family outreach team is part of an exciting piolet project to develop an enhanced day provision for children, young people and their families within the crisis pathway

 

The post holder will work as part of the Think Family Outreach Team (TFOT) with the aim to support children, young people and their families who are in emotional distress and either at risk of requiring crisis intervention from Crisis and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) or Acute Hospital Settings. The clinical offer is tailored to suit each individual young person/family's needs and focus on empowerment and skills

 

The post holder will provide clinical assistance and support within a team in the delivery of a range of Psychoeducation interventions to support the crisis management and recovery.

 

Within this position you will be providing telephone support and advise to Children and Young people up to 18 years’ old and their families/Carers calling 111 option two/Crisis line seeking urgent help for their mental health. The post holder will provide initial triage as well as information, support, signposting and advice about managing mental health.

Main duties of the job

There is a clear nursing structure and career progression pathway within RISE with opportunities to broaden your experience and development , we are also part of the CYP IAPT initiative and work in partnership with the Reading CYP-IAPT collaborative where we have on going opportunities for further training.

You will hold a caseload of Children and Young People and have the opportunity to work alongside and liaise with other agencies in order to meet the needs of the young person and their family. You will also provide assessments under the supervision of team members of band 6 and above and be part of the ongoing multi agency/ multi-disciplinary discussion and support around the young people you will see.

When a person calls 111/Crisis line, the post holder provide clinical risk and mental state triage and assessment.

Provide emotional support, onward urgent referral, transfer to 999, when necessary, for callers who need emergency and urgent mental heath support in a crisis 12 hours a day, seven days a week.

The post holder will be expert in de-escalating crisis and supporting Children, young people and family/Carers in distress and an emotional state.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse – Mental Health, Learning Disability, Childrens Diploma / Degree holder
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD

Knowledge and skills

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of up-to-date legislation in respect CAMHS
  • Demonstrate understanding of responsibilities of registered nurse according to NMC codes
  • Knowledge and understanding of research and its relationship with practice.
  • Knowledge of Valuing People and its application into practice
  • Able to understand and contribute to services strategic framework and service visions.
  • Highly effective communication and liaison skills.
  • Ability to manage own workload under supervision
  • Clinically proficient and able to provide direct assistance to clients with complex needs.
