Main duties of the job

We are looking for enthusiastic motivated individuals to join our team in Women’s and Children’s at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust. You will be working alongside our gynaecology professionals to carry out a compassionate and caring role to meet the needs of our patients, relatives and other team members.

Applicants must be able to work effectively within a team, demonstrating an ability to adapt to the change in accordance with the need of the organisation and professional innovation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Perform patient care maintaining the safety of the patient, under the supervision of a registered practitioner.
  • Anticipate the needs of the patient to ensure comfort, safety, and dignity always.
  • Assist patients in preparation for and whilst undergoing routine and specialised gynaecological procedures and examinations, always attending to the patient’s welfare.
  • To check patient identification and documentation in accordance with departmental protocols and clinical requests. Ensure that patient demographics are accurate.
  • Establish and maintain a good communication channel to support patient confidence.
  • Demonstrate respect, courtesy, and diplomacy in dealing with professional colleagues and members of the public. Adopting a friendly and helpful approach towards staff, patients, their relatives and friends in all clinical areas and on the telephone.
  • Receive patients, relatives, and colleagues into the department and direct to the appropriate area and ensure that they have been informed of waiting times.
  • Ensure patient’s property is kept in line with Trust Policy Preparing for clinics.
  • Management of patient information to ensure compliance with information governance.
  • Ensuring patient’s data is effectively inputted on to the computer system.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of Safeguarding issues
  • Awareness of Health and Safety issues
  • Knowledge and understanding of data protection confidentially
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working with members of the public
  • One year’s formal care experience in a hospital
  • Experience of using hospital patient record system
  • Experience of working in an acute hospital setting
  • Experience of providing high quality care

Qualification(s) and Professional Training

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Maths and English Grades A-C, Levels 4-9, Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent
  • GCSE Maths and English Grades A-C, Levels 4-9, Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent
  • Commit to undertake in-house training

  • Foundation Degree Maternity Pathway
