Job overview

Stores Operative BAND 2 , Rugby Theatres . 

Main duties will be receipt and distribution of stores for Theatres. This involves collection of stores from  the delivery point in the hospital . Checking and putting away stores accurately . Maintaining and checking of  stock levels ,  ensuring stock rotation , checking expiry dates. Working under direction of Clinical Lead to stock up and replenish consumables in  clinical areas .

Providing and maintaining high level of standards within the department. To deliver an efficient service for the trust.

Main duties of the job

Assist in the receipt and distribution of  deliveries including the management of stock ordered for the bulk stores facility. Take responsibility for the security of goods from the point of receipt  and ensure stock is correctly  stored and distributed to all  Areas.  Comply with the principles of risk management including health and safety legislation, promoting high standards and acting immediately on hazards or unsafe practices in conjunction with other staff.  Undertake any other tasks as required by the Theatre Manager and the Band 7 Lead for Equipment and Stores and Consumables . 

  1. Responsible for the receipt of goods/stores from Receipt and Distribution into Theatres ensuring that all relevant paperwork is completed checked and signed.
  2. Operate the Trust’s Integra Computer System to identify the destination of each delivery.
  3. In accordance with department procedures, complete the necessary internal delivery paperwork and then deliver parcels/stores to various locations within the department.
  4. Responsibility for the security of goods from the point or receipt and ensure stock is put away in a timely manner.
  5. Liaise with Receipt and Distribution regarding the uplifts and issues of returns and discrepancies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Ensure that the Receipting Area is kept secure and tidy at all times.
  • Assist in general queries and action the request for goods as and when required.
  • To assist in the twice-yearly stock take of theatre consumables, held in the theatre storage areas.
  • Responsible for checking allocated areas in storeroom, highlighting any concerns, overorders or shortages of stock.
  • Ensuring Storerooms and Clinical Storage Trolleys are kept clean and tidy.
  • Prioritise daily tasks to achieve timescales set.
  • Assisting Clinical staff with restocking of clinical areas.
  • To support team members and the wider team.
  • This may require providing cross-cover on a reciprocal basis in the absence of colleagues.
