This is a new role to support Coventry and Warwickshire ICB in partnership with Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council to deliver our WorkWell vanguard.
The role is hosted by Coventry and Warwickshire ICB working in partnership with the Local Authorities.
This is a high profile, strategic role and an exciting opportunity to be part of the Work and Health integration in Coventry and Warwickshire.
Main duties of the job
We know that good quality work is critical to the economic, mental and physical health and wellbeing of all communities. We see the need for an integrated, whole-system approach to address health-related barriers to work that individuals face.
Following a successful application to be a DWP Workwell Vanguard site, this role will lead the development and operation of the Coventry & Warwickshire Workwell Service.
This role is a highly specialist role understanding both Work and Health existing and emerging programmes, policies and strategies at local, regional and national level.
The postholder will need to have a genuine passion for reducing health inequalities and working with partners to tackle wider issues around social exclusion.
The post will take a leadership role that encompasses:
• lead on the strategic development of an integrated Work and Health Strategy and support development of a partnership to implement the strategy.
• To shape the development of Work and Health to deliver the aim of our ICS to help the NHS support broader social and economic development for the population of Coventry and Warwickshire.
• Working in collaboration with our partners across the health and employment and skills systems to ensure better join up of employment and health support.
• Supporting professionals within our system to mobilise and deliver the strategy.
Working for our organisation
Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is responsible for commissioning NHS services on behalf of people in Coventry and Warwickshire. In consultation with local partners, it plans the delivery of services in a way that both meets local health and care needs and reduces inequalities between different groups. The purpose of our ICB is to bring partner organisations together to:
1. improve outcomes in population health and healthcare
2. tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience and access
3. enhance productivity and value for money
4. help the NHS support broader social and economic development.
As an Integrated Care System we have agreed a common vision as well as the principles of how partners will work together. This is underpinned by the Health and Wellbeing Concordat for Coventry and Warwickshire.
This Concordat was agreed by our two Health and Wellbeing Boards and sets out our goal to enable people across Coventry and Warwickshire to pursue happy, healthy lives and put people and communities at the heart of everything we do.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• Development of an ICS strategy for Work and Health integration and development of a partnership approach to support delivery and implementation of the strategy.
• To utilise workforce planning information and population data to identify and target interventions.
• Building extensive knowledge of national strategy and policy direction as it relates to work and health integration and commissioning and disseminating this knowledge throughout the ICS to positively impact join up of employment and health support.
• Leading on training on capability building for work and health support within the partnership to improve social value.
• Responsible for the planning and implementation of key elements of the CWICB People Plan and agreed priorities, ensuring that key milestones are achieved and that the required outcomes are met.
• Facilitate partners across the health and care system in recognising the importance of work and health integration, using analysis, judgement, knowledge and experience to support the system in developing actionable solutions.
• Responsible for managing, maintaining and monitoring appropriate budgets.
• Using evidence-based research to promote new ways of working.
• Represent the Chief People Officer at relevant regional/national events/networks.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Master’s level qualification or equivalent specialist experience
- Evidence of continued professional leadership development at senior level within the health, education, or care environment
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience and understanding of the relationship between the Department for Work and Pensions, Department of Health, NHS England and the local operating framework for the ICS.
- Highly developed and specialist knowledge and experience of Work and Health Integration including existing and emerging programmes, policies and strategies at local, regional and national level.
- An understanding of health inequalities
- Experience of working in and leading multi-agency partnerships
- Experience of planning organisational or partnership resources to support programme/ project implementation.
- Business and service planning experience
- Experience in change management
- Knowledge of the NHS, employment and skills system, Local Authority and Voluntary sector and how they work and work together.
- Knowledge of labour market trends, employment growth sectors and employability and skills gaps
- Proven track record in leading and managing complex projects and delivering identified benefits.
- Experience of initiating partnership and collaborative working across organisational boundaries
