Compassion … Respect …. Excellence… Collaboration… Integrity... do you share our values?

Voices… trauma… visions… stigma… withdrawal… exclusion… depression… substance use – the people we support need psychologists who can help them find a way through these experiences and make a meaningful recovery – are you ready to work alongside them and their families?

Peer workers… true multi-disciplinary teams… service development… new partnerships… organisational change – do these excite you?

If the answer to these is ‘Yes’, we would love to hear from you.  We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about making a difference to the lives of people experiencing early psychosis or ARMS to join our Early Intervention Team in South Warwickshire on a 12-month fixed-term basis.

The post is funded as 0.6 wte but there is some flexibility if people wish to work fewer hours.

Main duties of the job

As a Principal Clinical Psychologist, you will be expected to provide strong leadership in psychology provision in the team, as well as contributing to the Trust-wide development of our Early Intervention in Psychosis Service. You will also be expected to provide leadership and oversight around service development, and you will need to work collaboratively with your peers and the leadership team across the Early Intervention Service.  You will work with people with complex difficulties and their families.  You will be expected to promote values that seek to support recovery in this client group and maximise the potential of individuals with the aim of reducing social exclusion, stigma and the potentially disabling effects of psychosis.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

It is essential that candidates have post qualification experience of working with people with psychosis. Experience in delivering CBT, CBTp and family interventions with people with first episode psychosis, including those with complex presentations and trauma, is highly desirable.  Experience of using trauma-focused interventions is also highly desirable.  You are required to hold a current professional registration with the HCPC, and it would be advantageous to be BABCP accredited or have passed a BABCP accredited CBT training course. A recognised qualification or to be currently training in CBTp is also desirable.  The ability to travel over a large geographical area may still be necessary on occasion.  The ability to work flexibly with the needs of the client group is essential.

We support our psychologists to develop their skills, particularly in developing specialist skills in working with psychosis, trauma, and family work. We welcome people with an interest in research, particular areas of clinical practice or particular types of intervention, and will give dedicated time for this.  All of these can be considered within the parameters of the number of hours of the post and the duration of the fixed term.

Please note:  It is mandatory requirement for all newly appointed staff to be registered with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Update Service.
