Probationary Period

All new staff to the Trust will be subject to a standard 6 month probationary period, the details of which will duly follow in your contract of employment.

All our staff will have a work base. However the Trust operates as an Agile Working Team therefore staff may be working from home on a regular basis as required by the service. Job overview

An opportunity has arisen within the MSK Physiotherapy Team for a Band 4 physiotherapy assistant. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated, compassionate team member to join our dynamic and forward thinking team.

The post will spread across Leamington Rehab Hospital and Stratford Hospital. The physio teams comprise of Technical Instructors, qualified  clinical staff including First contact practitioners and Team Leads. 

The successful candidate will be given responsibility to support a variety of rehab classes, manage a caseload of elective and referred patients with autonomy and guidance from qualified physiotherapists.

Although the majority of this role will be clinical, there will be some admin responsibilities where necessary.

Previous experience in a Healthcare setting is essential.

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust has a commitment to providing a seven day service and therefore there is a requirement to undertake weekend working.

Main duties of the job

The role of requires delivery of high quality, caring and compassionate patient care. The post holder will undertake assessment, implementation and evaluation of patient care needs for a defined group of patients under the indirect supervision of a registered professional in their specialist area. The post holder is required to work as part of a team committed to delivering and improving a high standard of therapy within South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust.

Clinical Practice

Education, Training and Personal Development

To ensure attendance at mandatory training sessions i.e. infection control, resuscitation and moving and handling training.

To complete the Trust’s Clinical Support Worker Induction programme.

To successfully complete the Care Certificate within 12 weeks of commencing employment.

To ensure maintenance and development of individual competence knowledge and skill.

As a competent practitioner, teach and provide supervision to appropriate junior staff.

To participate in and undertake appropriate training and development activities including IT and clinical skills.

Maintain up to date knowledge of changes in policies and procedures relevant to the post.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Obtained an educational level of GCSE level A – C English and Maths or equivalent
  • Minimum Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or equivalent higher apprenticeship
  • Care Certificate or willingness to work towards attaining it

Experience

  • Significant experience in delivering care and working in a healthcare, people centred environment
  • Experience working as part of a team
