An opportunity to join a close-knit, busy and vibrant team at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, as an important addition to the endocrine and Diabetes team.  This post will complement the existing 3 consultants, and play a part in the service expansion, along with the planned addition of a CNS.

The Department of Paediatric Endocrine and Diabetes is seeking a Fixed Term  Consultant to join their dynamic, enthusiastic and forward-thinking endocrine and diabetes team.

The team currently consists of Dr Dunia Ismail (Clinical Lead for Endocrinology & Diabetes), Dr Shankar Kanumakala (Endocrinology and Diabetes) and Dr Claire Snowden  (General Paediatrics and Diabetes) and a multidisciplinary Diabetes team made of 3WTE CNS, 2WTE Dietician and 1WTE , with 1 WTE coordinator.

These posts will contribute to the consultant-led care provided in the Children’s outpatient and inpatient department for endocrinology and diabetes.

There is an OOH rota for Diabetes as a current 1:5 which would become a 1:6 with consultants and CNS team, and the consultants are always back up when a CNS is on call.

The aim is to establish a long term sustainable Endocrine and Diabetes department, striving to meet full national standards of care for Endocrine in near future, and continuing to achieve BPT for Diabetes and meeting all 7 care processes for NPDA yearly.

The department is committed to ensuring all consultants are treated equally and fairly.
