Job overview
Are you a caring, engaging and innovative Pharmacy Technician? If so, you could be well suited to this role.
We are looking to recruit a highly committed band 6 Specialist Pharmacy Technician (Mental Health) to be part of the Trust Medicines Management Team working with our Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) in North West Sussex.
The base is listed as Langley Green however consideration will be given to other potential bases in West Sussex. Please contact us for further information.
We are ideally looking to recruit a Pharmacy Technician with mental health experience; however full training and support will be given to the right candidate . We also have a comprehensive in house training package which you would be welcome to join along with regular support from the wider CMHT team.
This post is subject to an enhanced check with adults barred list Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check.
This position is part time at 30 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
This post presents a great opportunity for an experienced Pharmacy Technician motivated by the desire to improve patient care to support the Community Mental Health teams (CMHT). You will be working with Specialist Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians to provide this service.
The role demands an organised, flexible individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work on their own initiative.
The team provides a well-structured support system, access to professional training, and excellent opportunity for professional development.
There is no dispensary commitment with this role, or weekend working. There are opportunities for direct patient contact and care as an integral part of the role.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ level 3 Pharmacy Services, BTEC Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent and be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) by 2011
- To have successfully completed the South East (South Coast) Medicines Management Education and Developments, Medicines Management Accreditation Scheme or equivalent National competency assessment
- To have successfully completed the accredited checking technician course
- To have successfully completed the HEE educational supervisor course
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with General Pharmaceutical Council.
Knowledge, Training and Experience
Essential criteria
- To have demonstrable evidence of having met the full gateway KSF for 5 Pharmacy Technician
- Experience of supervising technicians and/or pharmacy assistants
- Ability to identify own training needs
- Significant experience of working within a hospital pharmacy department post qualification
- Basic pharmaceutical knowledge on actions and uses of medicines , including those used in mental health
- Experience of medicines management schemes
- Experience handling straightforward Medicines Information queries.
