Job overview
We are looking for a committed Bank Band 6 Neuromodulation/ECT Practitioner/Operating Department Practitioner/Anaesthetic Nurse specialising in ECT to join us as part of a dedicated team of professionals that provides the highest standards of care and support to people with Acute Mental Health needs.
The post-holder will support the ECT department working in the ECT environment. You must have a sound level of expertise, knowledge and be skilled in the delivery of care to patients who are referred to the service. You will provide bank support to the ECT Lead Nurse.
This post is currently based at the ECT suite which is an off-site unit attached to the Department of Psychiatry and linked to East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust via a corridor and established SLA (service level agreement) for support.
We are building a new hospital in Bexhill to replace our inpatient services at the Department of Psychiatry. This means that, if you are successful in your application, you will be asked to transfer to the new facilities when they open in 2025.
Main duties of the job
As a Bank Band 6 Neuromodulation/ECT Practitioner/Operating Department Practitioner/Anaesthetic Nurse, you will be a vital part of our multi-disciplinary team undertaking ongoing monitoring, assessment, documentation and care of our patients receiving ECT treatment at the clinic and related units at the Department of Psychiatry. You will be expected to administer and monitor medication.
You will provide clinical and managerial leadership at the ECT clinic, supervising junior staff and trainees and regularly taking charge of the clinical environment over a span of duty. We work closely with other teams and professionals to ensure the effective management of our patients.
We work on Tuesdays and Fridays weekly from 07.30 - 15.30 which includes a 30-minute break. You will also be expected to provide leave cover for ECT Lead

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
In order to be a successful Staff in our team you will:
- Be registered with the NMC.
- Have experience and training of managing unconscious patients and working closely with care staff and multi-disciplinary team, anaesthetists and allied professionals.
- Possess prior experience working with adults with complex mental health difficulties
- Be passionate about working with adults with complex mental health difficulties
It would also be advantageous if you are:
- Have experience delivering a high standard of care in clinical environments and off-site units delivering treatments requiring the use of anaesthesia.

- Must be qualified with Health Professionals Commission, experience to degree level, proven years work experience as a qualified professional.
- Diploma in Higher Education (DipHE) Operating Department Practitioner, Anaesthetic Nurse RGN
- Registered with Health Professionals Council appropriate to the job role,
Knowledge/Experience

- Proven working experience as a qualified professional
- Post qualifying experience relevant to the care group.
