Job overview

We have a Senior Support Worker vacancy in the Newly built Eastbourne Haven. The Haven is a 24/7 unit providing an extended crisis assessment for service users who are in crisis. The main aim of the Haven is to accept people who are not subject to the Mental Health Act, who have no reason to attend A&E for physical health assessment.

Working closely with adult mental health services and partner organisations across Sussex, The Haven will ensure that we can offer an effective, safe and accessible alternative to A&E and provide timely crisis interventions for service users in the community.

As the Haven is open 24 hours every day of the year the role requires day and night shifts.   A 12-week in advance roster gives a good work life balance and allows for social plans and activities to be made well in advance.

Main duties of the job

As a support worker in The Haven, your priority will be to work alongside, and support colleagues to ensure the safety of service users who are attending in crisis.

In The Haven environment they will be offered a further assessment of their needs and risks by the nursing staff.    The support worker role is to offer a therapeutic opportunity either prior to assessment, or post assessment until they are ready to leave with an onward care plan.
