Job overview

To assist the Specialist Operations department responsible for the provision of the  Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and Special Operations Response Team (SORT) in line with the EPRR Interoperable Capability Standards. 

 The post holder will be responsible for the service and maintenance of operational specialist operations equipment, support training delivery and exercising, moving equipment and vehicles as well as maintaining training equipment.

Whilst having a fixed base the post holder will be required to work at various locations across the Trust area.

The post holder must be able to pass (and continue to) a SORT fitness assessment.

 

Main duties of the job

  • Ensure the continuous preparedness of specialist equipment.
  • Maintenance and ordering of equipment as required;
  • Test, inspect and maintain records for specialist equipment. 
  • Support the achievement and maintenance of the EPRR Core and Interoperable Capabilities Standards;
  • Work closely with the Specialist Operations Managers who are responsible for the preparedness of  specialist equipment and vehicles for operational deployment;
  • Work closely with the resilience department to maintain accurate information on the resilience fleet so that up-to-date information is available at all times to support operational deployment;
  • Maintain own training and development.
  • Attend/participate in all training deemed appropriate and necessary to ensure effective performance and personal development;
  • The post holder may be expected to work in locations other than their base as required, for which suitable transport and/or accommodation will be provided;
  • The post holder will drive a vehicle in a manner that is within the law and the standards for driving within the Trust and be fully aware of health and safety requirements whilst possessing the vehicle;
  • Maintain their own fitness to ensure they are able to meet the minimum standard require of a SORT operative.
