Job overview

To provide a high quality and effective Estates and Facilities porter/driver, removal, and fitting service, across all SPFT sites.
This role will require daily driving of a medium to large size light goods vehicle equipped with lifting equipment (Tail Lift)
Extensive manual handling involving office moves and furniture installation. Building and fitting
To work as part of the courier services team in order to maintain a high-quality reactive service as detailed in the scope and authority.

Main duties of the job

To work effectively and efficiently within the Logistics team of couriers, supervisors and managers.
Trained on all logistics driver responsibilities overseen by the logistics facilities team.
Provide removal and fitting service and manual support to all SPFT sites and services - requirement for flexible working hours to support when necessary with reasonable notice to change start and finish times.
Potential for working requirements over Weekends and Bank Holidays
Collection, delivery, installation, safe transportation and disposal of all types of waste, this may include; furniture, mattresses, clinical, general, confidential, food, sharps and other forms of waste to nominated disposal sites.
To be available for ad-hoc requirements that will support the Estates and Facilities team.
Maintain all equipment and vehicles in line with SPFT Operating Procedures and Policy. Completing all required reports
To use the tail-lift equipment in the correct manner, safely and within the manufacturer's guidelines
Observe punctuality and adhere to working times as directed, which may be subjected to change
Attend and complete all necessary training requirements required for effective delivery of the job role, ensuring that SPFT statutory and mandatory training is up to date.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be working within the logistics team alongside a colleague providing the service as a two-person team supporting Estates and Facilities services.

This team has multiple disciplines, providing food storage and delivery, postal services - franking, internal and external deliveries, PPE delivery and ad-hoc requirements. There will be an expectation to train and provide cover and support for these services
Internally you'll communicate with; Service users, The Logistics and PPE teams. Estates and Facilities colleagues, clinical and care teams
Externally you'll communicate with, the general public, other NHS Trusts, Suppliers

Knowledge/Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety & COSHH regulations
  • Full Current & Clean Driving Licence
  • Manual handling experience
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience within a Portering/Driver or removal or Delivery Role Customer care
  • Drivers CPC

Physical

Essential criteria
  • Frequent requirement to handle light to moderate physical effort several times during a shift.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and experience of tail lift, pump trucks
