 To succeed as an experienced Associate Ambulance Practitioner, you must have a genuine desire to serve the local community, demonstrate excellent communication skills, utilise your initiative, remain calm under pressure, whilst providing a patient-focused approach with a caring and empathetic nature. 

 

Main duties of the job

In order to apply you must have:

  • Associate Ambulance Practitioner (AAP) Level 4 Diploma
  • A full and current driving licence, held for at least one year, with no more than three penalty points
  • A stable employment and attendance history
  • A caring disposition, demonstrating sensitivity to the needs of individuals
  • Also, candidates MUST hold a full C1 (manual) category on their driving licence as well as a Blue Light Driving Qualification prior to joining the Trust
  • Desirable-GCSE Maths and English, Grade A-C (4-9) or above (or equivalent

 This opportunity is for the named location  and we would  shortlist those within a 45-minute commute.

  • Upon joining the Trust, you will go straight into a 5-day clinical conversion course followed by a driving assessment. Please note that no annual leave will be authorised from this date until the course is completed.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Ability to organise and initially manage the scene of incidents, until support arrives. This could involve organising or managing patients, bystanders or other responding services, plus communicating with outside agencies e.g. Police, Fire and Coastguard.
  • Prepare the correct dosage for medicines administration.
  • Demonstrate resilience and adaptability to meet the clinical needs of the patient in an emergency and urgent care setting. 
  • Able to pass an occupational specific fitness test and pre-employment medical
  • Able to work effectively under direction or as part of a team
  • Develop effective working relationships with colleagues and members of the public
  • Customer care experience e.g. care environment, nursing home or evidence of strong interpersonal/communication.
  • Ensure information sharing is always undertaken, in compliance with information governance procedures.
  • Record details and maintain records in accordance with the Trust’s service procedures, including the use of ePCR device and associated Apps, software etc.
