Specialist Pharmacist Mental Health - Hastings locality
Are you enthusiastic and passionate about improving the lives of patients with mental health problems, then apply for a specialist pharmacist role in our Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Trust. We have an opportunity to support the inpatient units in based in Hastings and surrounding areas.
You should have a passion for working within mental health and an understanding of the medicines used within mental health services would be an advantage although not essential as training can be provided. as we have an in house training program. The post holder will be supported to undertake further accreditations as appropriate, and there are opportunities to develop the role and service to the wards.
You will be joining a friendly, supportive Pharmacy team which is highly regarding in the Trust and is rapidly expanding due to recent significant investments. This role is a great opportunity to start or continue a career in mental health and can lead to a future of more senior roles within mental health.
The Pharmacy leadership team is committed to education and training of the pharmacy workforce and will provide an inhouse training program and access to external training (including Psych 1 and Psych 2) for the successful applicants so they can reach their full potential.
Main duties of the job
This role will provide a clinical pharmacy and medicines optimisation service to ensure patient’s get the best from their medicines and that other healthcare professionals are well informed and skilled to be able to manage the use of medicines correctly, safely and cost effectively. The role will be based on the inpatient wards of Hastings but will also provide support to Beechwood and Amberstone units. This includes adult acute, older persons, dementia and rehabilitation wards. The role will support the safe and effective use of medicines within the service, working closely with the pharmacy staff within the East Sussex locality of Sussex Partnership, and as part of the wider service MDT and Trust wide pharmacy team.
There is no weekend or dispensary working. On call is an advice service only and is currently more than 1 in 12 weeks, with senior support provided.

Registration, qualification & experience
Essential criteria
- GPhC registration
- Degree in Pharmacy from British University or recognised equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Experience of Band 6 rotational post
- Experience working within a mental health setting
- Postgraduate Diploma

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
