Job overview
The Integrated Legal Team at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity for two Paralegals to join our team in a key role to support the delivery of in-house case management. If you are looking for a role that is unique, wide-ranging, keeps you motivated and offers potential for development of your legal knowledge within the NHS, then SPFT's Integrated Legal Team would be an ideal team for you. The Team delivers expert in-house legal services across Claims, Inquests, Mental Capacity Law and Mental Health Law as well as wide-ranging Healthcare Law. This role is a key part of the ongoing development of the Integrated Legal Team to ensure the in-house legal service provision is of the highest standard in the most complex cases, trust-wide.
Main duties of the job
To provide day to day legal case management of a cohort of the Trust's cases that are subject to Coronial Investigations or other court proceedings. Working to ensure excellent quality case management including considered, compassionate clinical staff support for the duration of the applicable legal process, whilst ensuring the Trust's legal compliance.

The Integrated Legal Team was formed in September 2021 to bring all legal support services within one composite, integrated, in-house team.
During the last 20 months it has gone from strength to strength, working within an ever changing legal landscape . It is a busy, wide-ranging team with excellent in-house knowledge and committed team members who are passionate about the support service that they provide trust-wide. As the team is constantly developing it is a fast-paced, interesting team to work within.

Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of legal processes
- Ability to analyse complex data
- Understanding of medical and legal terminology
- Experience of producing documents to a high Standard with good accuracy
- Experience of maintaining office systems
- Experience of working as part of a team
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Law degree or substantial practical legal experience coupled with some level of legal qualification
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
