Job overview

We are looking for an experienced SMHL Team Lead (Band 7) at our Crisis Line/111MH Option service. The service is a 24/7 mental health crisis line for anyone who may be in crisis and in urgent need of help with their mental health.

To be successful in this role you will share our passion, desire and empathetic approach to supporting people of all ages with complex mental health needs.

• Have ability to work autonomously

This role is suitable for Registered Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers who are registered with their relevant professional body (NMC/HCPC/Social Work England).

We have a new office base in Worthing and there will be a requirement to be office based as a part of this role.

You will be required to supervise and support an evolving and growing team are who taking calls and supporting callers in self-defined crises across Sussex.

For this role you will be required to work a mixture of shifts, over the seven-day period. However, we do our best to fulfil our service requirement and ensure our team work the hours that suit their home life where we can. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen.

Our Current shifts patterns are Early (07:00-15:00), L1 (13:00-21:00), L4 (16:00-00:00), Night (20:45-07:15)

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a motivated leader for the management of both operational and clinical matters including the review and development of policy relating to practice.

The post holder will provide clinical and managerial leadership to monitor and develop the practice of SMHL staff.

They will be required to develop and participate in the delivery of a supervision structure for team members and within this process ensuring staff within the service area are compliant with professional regulations.

They will take a lead on quality audits within the team and provide regular feedback to staff.

We are looking for staff confident in running a training programme for both substantive and bank staff and also ensuring all mandatory training is undertaken.

To ensure feedback loops with the organization through team brief and other communication routes within the care group.

 

The post holder will participate in working groups or service development forums to develop policies, protocols or guidelines relevant to multidisciplinary / multi agency clinical team and to ensure any such development is shared across relevant care groups or identified staff groups.

 

They will ensure quantitative and qualitative data measures (relevant to your care group) are produced, monitored and reviewed with the team, ensuring staff involvement.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Incentives:

Standard sign-up bonus of £4k (paid over two years) for all Band 5 - 7 registered professionals who join clinical teams across the Trust. Pro-rata.

 

Relocation bonus of up to £8k for all registered Band 5 - 7 professionals in line with Trust policy, HMRC tax rules and provision of relocation expense receipts.


Increased rates of pay for unsocial hours
(some weekend and evening work) as set out under the Agenda for Change (AfC) guidelines.

Working at Crisis Line/111MH Option: You will be joining a friendly, supportive and dedicated team responding to Sussex-wide callers. The service is free and is available to anyone of any age who is concerned about their own mental health or that of a relative or friend. This includes carers and healthcare professionals.

The Sussex Mental Healthline is staffed by a team of experienced mental health clinicians and operators. Although we are not a counselling service, all our staff will listen and help callers to identify and clarify their immediate problems and to explore ways of coping or suggest alternative avenues of help

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered RMN or Allied Health Professional with current registration and relevant mental health experience appropriate to the job role.
  • Educated to minimum diploma level with a relevant qualification or equivalent experience
  • Completion of Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent
  • Evidence of CPD/post registration training in relevant service area

Knowledge/Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of and demonstrable achievement in clinical practice
  • Experience of providing professional support/supervision and motivation of staff
  • Understanding of Health and Social Care Governance
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Awareness of Trust policies and service specification
