Job overview
These posts are available from August 2025 for one year. The duties of the post meet the requirements of the CT3 Equivalent (Stage 1 'top up') posts as detailed by the Royal College of Anaesthetists. The 2021 RCoA Anaesthetics curriculum will be followed. The duties will include pre, peri and post-operative management of surgical patients, assisting with the care of the patients on the ICU, and provision of assistance with resuscitation calls.
This post will offer training opportunities as per the Royal College of Anaesthetists training guidance and applicants who successfully complete the year will be awarded a stage 1 evidence certificate.
Main duties of the job
The duties will include pre, peri and post-operative management of surgical patients, assisting with care of the patients on the ICU, and provision of assistance with resuscitation calls.

Communication and liaison with all other medical and service departments within the hospital. 5
Communication with other hospitals.
Teaching - the postholder may be involved in teaching other doctors and medical students, nurses and other paramedical staff in the team in speciality and special interest.
The post holder will also be expected to participate on all on call rotas. The department manages 3 tiers of cover - Theatres, Obstetrics and ITU and rotation will be through all of these disciplines.

All rota’s are EWTD compliant in line with the 2016 Junior Doctor Contract and 2019 amendments to this contract. All on call is maintained at a 1:10 ratio.

Experience/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Basic medical degree
- • Completed at least two years postgraduate training at CT1 and CT2 level in a relevant training programme.
- • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
- • Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent
