At Airedale, we are committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion. We actively encourage applications irrespective of people’s age, lived experience of living with a disability or long-term conditions, gender, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or other personal circumstances.

Increasing our diversity and supporting our organisation to be more inclusive is a key priority here at Airedale and our teams are at the centre of how we work towards this.

We appreciate all people may have diverse and individual needs and we pride ourselves on supporting all people to thrive and flourish at work. This is a Trust that sits at the heart of our community, and our communities are very proud of their Trust.

Job overview

The Department of Histopathology is looking to appoint a Band 7 to undertake the role of Section Lead based at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

Bradford Royal Infirmary forms part of Integrated Pathology Solutions LLP.  LLP is an innovative joint-venture pathology service between Airedale NHS Foundation Trust (AGH), Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BRI) and Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. This partnership delivers a high-quality pathology service through collaboration between three Trusts for the benefit of patient and service users.

The UKAS accredited Histopathology department at BRI is responsible for the triaging and dissecting of specimens. In addition, the department performs frozen sections, ensures suitability of renal biopsies for diagnostic assessment and performs staining of some skin and renal biopsies.

Due to the nature of current processing workflow there will be a particularly close link with Airedale site colleagues.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate practical competencies within the cut up area. Experience of the dissection of category B specimens would be advantageous.

The candidate should possess clear communication skills and be able to discuss a variety of organisational skills appropriate to the role.
