An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative, motivated  and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist/ Psychological Therapist interested in working in  Acute Adult Inpatient settings. The Ideal individual would join our already skilled and motivated multidisciplinary teams based at Lynfield Mount and Airedale Hospitals.

The post holder will be a lead member of the acute clinical teams and must have a strong commitment to multi-disciplinary working. The post holder‘s primary role is to provide psychological assessment, formulation and evidence based therapeutic interventions for individuals and families. Alongside this, consultation, training, and support to other professionals though formal and informal interventions such as facilitation of reflective practice and case discussion is key to the post. Experience of working with people with severe, chronic  and complex mental health difficulties is essential .

Job Purpose:

- Provide specialist evidence based psychological assessment, formulation & therapy, making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.

- Provide clinical leadership, supervision, consultation and advice on psychological therapies.

- Provide clinical consultation and advice to healthcare professionals across all localities.

- Support adherence to relevant NICE guidance and clinical governance arrangements.

- To ensure the clinical effectiveness of own practice and of service functioning by undertaking research and development activities relevant to the service area.

- Work with the Team/Clinical Manager on service development, leading research and development activities.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate level training in clinical or applied psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical, psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS, or a BPS Statement of Equivalence. OR Specialist post graduate training to masters level or equivalent in a psychotherapeutic modality - including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Systemic Therapy AND Accreditation from a recognised Psychological Therapy body e.g. BABCP, BACP, UKCP, HCPC via: (a) Professional route; requiring previous mental health qualification e.g. Clin. Psych., RMN, Dip. SW. or (b) where applicable, the KSA (knowledge, skills and attitude) route (e.g. with the BABCP).

  • Eligibility for Chartered Clinical Psychologist status.
  • Undertaken post-qualification further training in a specialised area of psychological practice e.g. neuropsychology, CBT, CAT, DBT, solution focused therapy, analytical therapy, systemic / family work etc.
  • Leadership training.
  • Teaching (clinical practice) qualification/certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Training in advanced clinical supervision
  • Training in trauma informed care.

Experience

  • Significant experience in relevant area of mental health practise
  • Application of evidenced based specialist psychological therapies relevant to the clinical service
  • Application of specialist psychological therapy within individual and group modality.
  • Clinical leadership experience.
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
  • Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
  • Significant post qualification experience and training.
  • Experience delivering psychological therapies to patients with complex difficulties.
  • Experience of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
