Job overview

This is a wonderful opportunity for a qualified Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, to join our friendly and innovative supportive paediatric team in Bradford, a vibrant multi-cultural city.  

The successful applicant will work with the Support Team for Deaf Children,  working across a variety of locations, including children's homes,  community clinics, nurseries and school settings.  You will work closely with Teachers of the Deaf to provide Speech and Language Therapy input for a defined caseload. 

The Speech and Language Therapy service provides a supportive network of generalist, specialist and highly specialist therapists working in a wide range of clinical areas, and there are excellent opportunities for continuous professional development and clinical supervision.

 

Main duties of the job

To work effectively with the Teachers of the Deaf in the Support Team for Deaf Children to provide assessment, therapy, advice and support to children and young people aged 0 - 18 who have specific needs in relation to their communication due to being deaf.

To manage a caseload of complex cases.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • HCPC Registration, Degree in SLT
  • RCSLT Registration

Knowledge and skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent knowledge of a range of therapeutic approaches relevant to the clinical specialism
  • In-depth Knowledge and evidence of multi professional/multi agency working
  • Ability to mentor SLT New Graduate, SLT Generalist and Clinical Support Workers
  • Able to work independently for most general cases with support for complex clinical cases specialism
  • In-depth Knowledge and experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to speak one or more locality languages

Experience

Essential criteria
  • In depth experience of working with a range of paediatric communication disorders, aged 0 - 18
  • Experience of working in a Multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of working with parents
  • Experience of working in a variety of health, social, educational and residential settings
  • Experience of working effectively with Bilingual Assistants and Interpreters
