Aseptic Services Technician

Job overview

We are looking to recruit an experienced highly organised, motivated, enthusiastic pharmacy technician to join our friendly Aseptic Services team working in our MS licensed and unlicensed Aseptic Units. This post suits self-motivated, qualified technicians with a minimum of two years post qualification GMP experience.

Working as a key member of the team alongside the aseptic unit management and Quality Assurance teams you will play a major role in the day to day running and development of the service and provision of safe, effective, injectable medicines for a wide range of patients including premature babies and cancer patients. The post holder will assist in outsourcing of chemotherapy and CIVAS products and will support managing and further developing this service. In addition, the post holder will have the opportunity after training to rotate into our Radiopharmacy department on an ad hoc basis for assisting in the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals.

The role requires somebody with great communication skills and positive attitude who enjoys learning and developing, sharing knowledge and experience.  A reliable person who is willing to work in a cleanroom and also office based environments. The correct candidate is open and honest, with great attention to detail and accuracy, ability to follow standard operating procedures and a passion for patient centered care. 

Main duties of the job

This post has become available at an exciting time for BTHFT, as the technical services team are currently preparing to transfer aseptic services from Bradford Royal Infirmary to St Luke's Hospital, and will shortly be commissioning a temporary aseptic unit for use, while the planning and development of a new, permanent unit is ongoing. This provides a rare and exciting opportunity for learning and development, supported by an experienced team.

The post involves weekend and Bank Holiday rota duties.

 

Summary of most important Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:

Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Services Skills (NVQ) or equivalent Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.  

Minimum of two years post qualification GMP experience.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of Aseptic Unit service delivery with at least two years post qualification experience
  • Pharmacy Technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing outsourcing of chemotherapy and CIVAS products
  • Experience of undertaking checks of unlicensed medicines
  • Experience in supervising and mentoring staff
  • Experience of managing staff including absence management and performance management
  • Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK)
  • Experience in service development and implementation of new policies/services
  • Experience of relevant training courses
