Job overview

An exciting opportunity as risen as we are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated renal nurse who is looking to take the next stage in their career development and join our successful and rapidly expanding Renal Home Therapy Service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, forward thinking and motivated nurse, who has a broad renal experience with significant skills in dialysis, demonstrates excellent communication and leadership skills and who is committed to providing high quality care.

The post offers the opportunity to develop management skills as well as developing existing or new specialist nursing skills.

Main duties of the job

You will have the ability, drive and enthusiasm to motivate your team - leading by example and empowering staff in their personal and professional development to undertake a greater range of clinical skills to maintain and continuously improve the excellent standards of patient care.

You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, ability to demonstrate leadership and a sound understanding of renal nursing and dialysis. You will have been experienced, competent and skilled in operating and handling dialysis machines.

You will be part of a dynamic moving forward thinking multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality individualised evidence based care. You will have outstanding organisational skills and in addition to working autonomously as well as being part of the wider Home Therapies Team, able to work well under pressure and use your initiative.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

A full UK driving license and a car for work purposes is essential.

The department is based at Bradford Royal Infirmary and covers the wider Bradford and Airedale area.

There is the opportunity for professional development and an individualised in-service induction package will be available for the successful applicant, supported by the Renal Clinical Educator.

You will follow a structured programme to prepare you for working within the Renal Home Therapy Service. In addition our priority is to provide development opportunities that help you to develop essential leadership skills by attending a structured course designed to promote leadership essentials for all staff.

  • Registration experience at band 5 in NHS setting
Desirable criteria
  • Dialysis experience

Skills

  • Good verbal and written command of English.
  • Ability to plan own time and that of junior staff, use own initiative and act independently within the bounds of existing knowledge and skills
  • Ability to assess patient needs and plan, implement and evaluate care appropriately

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality

Qualifications

  • NMC Registered
  • Understanding of current National, Regional and Local nursing issues
