An opportunity has risen for the post of Continence  Nurse Specialist for Urology Services.  The post holder will take an active role in supporting the ongoing development of the Continence  service along with the General Manager, lead Urology CNS and specialty lead to deliver a first class service for urology patients.

 

Main duties of the job

You will be innovative and resilient, with a strong professional work ethic and have  experience of working within the clinical specialty. You must be clinically credible with the ability to problem solve and make clinical decisions. You will be committed to promoting and providing excellent quality of care whilst ensuring a safe and well governed service.

 

The post holder will work in collaboration with the Specialty Lead and General Manager for the CSU. It is an expectation that the post holder will support the team with the development of the service through the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYATT), a collaborative of NHS Hospitals from across West Yorkshire and Harrogate working together to provide the best possible care for our patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will support the service development and support training and education to service user's and staff in the CSU and wider organisation. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced nurse to be part of a forward thinking team and service who will be responsible for providing highly specialist nursing care and advice to patients who require continence support and pathway of care. You will have excellent interpersonal skills with an organized approach to work, the ability to prioritize and delegate and to work effectively as part of a team. You must have demonstrable leadership skills and  evidence of change management skills. You will be expected to promote programmes of health education and health promotion and to communicate effectively with GPs and the multi-disciplinary team across organizational and professional boundaries.

You will work closely with the Planned Care group Matron who is responsible for our inpatient services at the BRI as part of the Urology and Vascular Clinical Service Unit (CSU) to ensure the provision of seamless care for Urology patients.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post registration experience, including experience of working in a relevant clinical specialty.
  • Experience of assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients/service users/staff demonstrating knowledge of specific needs
  • Experience of working in an MDT and across organisational and professional boundaries
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of leading clinical audit/research and using outcome measures
  • Experience of working with adult with complex health needs
  • Experience of working with patients with continence issues

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Computer literate – ability to use Word/Excel/ Power-point, etc.
  • Clinical credibility

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RN (Adult)
  • Supporting Learning in Clinical Practice (SLIP) or equivalent. Or an approved supervisor/assessor preparation accreditation.
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant specialist qualification or training to diploma level or equivalent experience
  • Degree or equivalent level of education or experience*
