Job overview

As CYA Clinical Lead for Diabetes, the post holder will work to provide clinical leadership, engagement and influence in paediatric epilepsy working alongside other members of the regional CYP Clinical Network & Transformation team. This post requires a healthcare professional with direct experience of working with CYP with Diabetes and a strong track record in multidisciplinary working within diabetes specialist teams.

Main duties of the job

·       Work with the regional CYP Clinical Network to support improvement in CYP diabetes services across the East of England.

·       Provide clinical advice and leadership to the CYP Network

·         Support systems and ICS Diabetes Leads to roll out national and regional priorities for CYP with epilepsy including transition and reducing health care inequalities.

·         Provide expert clinical advice and support to the CYP Clinical Director, CYP Clinical Lead colleagues and Head of East of England CYP Clinical Network & Transformation.

·         To engage and communicate with a wide variety of other stakeholders to promote sustainable and equitable CYP diabetes services of the highest quality possible.

·         To act as a conduit for information and initiatives between regional and local systems.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

 - Support the ICS to develop a strategic approach to integrating services for CYA, improving the quality of care for CYP with diabetes. Include CYA with diabetes in local, regional and national policy and programme design to ensure that services are designed to meet the needs of CYA and improvements are made in reducing inequalities.
- To provide clinical leadership within the CYP workstreams across the ICSs.
- To uphold organisational policies and principles on the promotion of equality.
- Represent the CYP Clinical Network and Adult Diabetes Network at NHS England regional and national forums providing a source of expertise and advice on these forums.
- To use analytics to inform quality and clinical improvement.
- To provide leadership and management to the defined clinical area within the CYA with diabetes Clinical Network.

 

 

 

 

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered with professional body. Educated to masters’ level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working in paediatric and/or adult diabetes with significant experience of young adult services for a minimum of 5 years
  • Health professional with an identified clinical leadership experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in formal clinical networks within the NHS.
  • Experience of developing, applying, and reviewing an evidence-based approach to decision making.
  • Knowledge of the NDPA and associated data reports, and knowledge of Peer review reports of individual paediatric diabetes services.
Desirable criteria
  • Active member of the East of England CYA Diabetes Regional Network or East of England adult diabetes network
  • Trained Diabetes Peer Reviewer
