Spectrum is recruiting a driven, ambitious nurse to lead our Substance Misuse team and drive forward clinical excellence across our healthcare service.
As a  Band 7 Substance Misuse Prescriber;  you’ll manage our skilled nursing team and provide effective clinical leadership on a wide range of issues. You’ll also be passionate about patient care - with advanced nursing knowledge, an understanding of NICE guidelines and The Drug Dependence Guidelines to be involved with key decision-making.

We need a nurse who can be a role model and mentor for our staff, support them to deliver the highest standards of evidence-based care and demonstrate proactive, visible leadership. You’ll need the confidence to build relationships with a wide range of NHS partners, stakeholders, Prison authorities and Community services, and to engage actively as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of an Multidisciplinary Team alongside key stakeholders. 

Managing and prescribing for patients with substance misuse needs.

Prioritising care. 

Leading and managing a team.

Managing incidents.

Developing teaching/ learning sessions surrounding Substance Misuse to further develop the teams knowledge.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of working within Substance Misuse
  • RGN/RMN
  • Independent Nurse/ Non-medical Prescriber
  • RCGP1 Substance Misuse
Desirable criteria
  • RCGP Cert 2 Substance misuse
  • Independent Nurse / Non-Medical Prescriber (or willingness to undertake)
  • Mentorship qualification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Post registration experience in substance misuse
  • Multi-Disciplinary working
  • Understanding of clinical governance
  • Recovery based models
  • Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner
  • Change management experience
  • Experience of leading a team
  • Offender health knowledge
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with an integrated model
  • Understanding of local and national key documents and their impact on health care delivery in a prison setting
