Job overview

The post holder will

  • be responsible for leading, developing, delivering and evaluating a highly specialist Clinical Pharmacy service to patients with HIV ensuring high standards of service are delivered to all patients
  • provide expert advice on pharmaceutical issues in the field of HIV and sexual health.
  • manage the provision of HIV medication via Homecare.
  • be a key member of the multidisciplinary team and be actively involved in developing the service to HIV patients.
  • Supports the specialty ensuring effective medicines management and compliance with current standards and statute

The successful applicants will be an enthusiastic pharmacists with an interest in developing their career in clinical pharmacy services. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy are required.

Main duties of the job

The role involves managing the prescribing, monitoring and delivery of services to our HIV / Sexual Health Patients. As an individual, you will have the opportunity to use your specialist knowledge, skills and experience to improve patient care and to develop pharmaceutical services to these patients.

The role will be involve spending approximately 60% of your time providing a clinical service to the HIV/sexual health clinics and 40% of your time providing a clinical service to the  wards within the Trust
 
Applicants must be registered pharmacists with the GPhC and have relevant experience (see person specification).
 
The role will include on-call duties and participation in weekend working as the Trust develops its seven day service.
 
Applicants should have knowledge of therapeutics and medicine use and experience of audit, risk management and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of staff.
 
This role is critical to providing a high quality clinical service to patients. The post holder will need to be flexible and organised, be able to align their values with those of the organisation, have the ability to delegate effectively and to work as part of a team with a ‘can do’ positive attitude.

We employ more than 6,500 staff who deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals, Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, health centres and in patients’ homes. We also are incredibly proud to have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.

We provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children’s and young people’s services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.

We provide community health services, including sexual health services in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres. These include Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING

Essential criteria
  • MPharm or equivalent Degree in Pharmacy approved by General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent qualification)
  • Pharmacist prescriber

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate significant relevant experience of clinical pharmacy practice
  • 1 year pre-registration training
  • Detailed knowledge of Clinical Pharmacy, Medicines Management and Pharmacy Practice acquired through training and experience.
  • Computer literate
  • Pharmacy Practice Research and Clinical Audit
  • Management of drug budgets
Desirable criteria
  • Experience managing staff
  • Significant relevant and recent experience of in HIV/sexual health
