Our Organisation

The NHS is building a culture that is positive, compassionate and inclusive – and we all have our part to play.

As employers we are committed to protecting and promoting the physical and mental health and wellbeing of all our colleagues. This underpins our values as set out in the NHS Constitution and supports us to be an Employer of Choice, while helping our colleagues to deliver high quality services for our patients and communities.

As a flexible employer, we want to support you to work in a way that is best for the NHS, our patients and you. Talk to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement whether that’s a job share, part time, hybrid working or another flexible pattern. In addition, although the role advertised may have a ‘home’ office base indicated, we remain committed to supporting flexibility around workplace locations. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.

Job overview

Within Data and Analytics our vision is to be the leading data services provider for health and social care across England through creating innovative and high-quality data products and services that give our customers the knowledge and capabilities required to deliver the best outcomes for citizens.

An exciting opportunity has opened for a Senior Analyst in the Transformation Directorate's Workforce, Training and Education Analytics Team. This team, comprised of analysts from various backgrounds, collaborates to deliver high-quality insights on the NHS workforce to support key programmes.

As a Senior Analyst, you’ll work with colleagues from the Workforce, Training and Education Directorate, NHS England teams and the Department of Health and Social Care, playing a crucial role in delivering analytical insights and expert advice.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include ensuring data quality, translating complex analyses into reports to support workforce programmes. You'll also manage risks, guide work programmes and line manage team members.

We seek a candidate with a degree in a numerical discipline (or equivalent experience), advanced Excel skills, and experience in tools like Tableau, Power BI or SQL. You should be able to extract key messages from complex data, communicate clearly and work both independently and collaboratively. Experience in leading analytical projects, managing deadlines and engaging with senior stakeholders is essential. As is the ability to manage junior staff and maintain composure under pressure.

This role is vital to delivering high-quality analytical outputs across NHS England’s system-based projects, supporting the organisation's strategic goals.
