Detailed job description and main responsibilities

FutureNHS are looking for a passionate User Researcher to join our brilliant team.

You will be welcomed into a supportive environment both in the FutureNHS team as well as the wider NHS user research community, with plenty of opportunity to collaborate and problem-solve with colleagues within the NHS and partners across the health and care system. 

As a user researcher you will be responsible for: 
•    Working on a high-profile collaboration platform that has a direct impact on the whole of the NHS and wider health and care sector.  
•    Work with colleagues in the team to ensure that user needs are at the forefront of the design process.  
•    Leading and employing a range of research approaches and methodologies, including qualitative, quantitative, collaborative, online and usability research, with external and internal users.  
•    Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to conduct user research to understand the user needs of healthcare sector employees. 
•    Providing user insights that will inform the design decisions made throughout the Agile process from pre-discovery to go live, aligning these back to strategic objectives of the platform. 
•    Acting as a champion for users, advocate for their needs to ensure that the work of NHS England is generated by and grounded in user needs.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to master’s level (or equivalent qualification / experience).

Skills & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience of quantitative and qualitative research activities such as: survey design, interview design, moderation, usability testing, facilitating workshops, contextual enquiry, co-design, and ethnographic research.
  • Experience of managing external digital platform suppliers to ensure successful delivery of products and services.
  • Experience of conducting usability testing sessions: designing tasks and scenarios, using a range of tools to collect data and providing recommendations supported by evidence such as video, graphs, tables and pictures.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of appropriate research methods across the user-centred design lifecycle and how to implement them.
