Job overview

The Midlands Analytical Team are looking for a Analytical Apprentice, 2 year, fixed term to bring their skills to lead analysis in the region to improve patient care for the 10.6m population. For the training aspects of this role, NHS England partner with Multiverse.  Alongside the training course, projects within the team will allow candidates to apply their knowledge and be supported to deliver analysis for the NHS from day 1 of their employment. 

 

We are a team of 25 individuals with a range of skill sets across the spectrum of data infrastructure, data presentation and advanced analytical methods.    As an Analyst, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic analytical community supporting managers and staff across all of NHS England functions.

 

The post holder will support a team of senior analytical managers within the Midlands Regional Analytical Team which will provide strategic analysis for insight into NHS performance and evidence to support decision-making.

 

The team are hybrid working, with core bases in Birmingham, Leicester and Derby.  Some work-related travel is expected.

Main duties of the job

As an Analytical Apprentice, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Data, Analysis, and Intelligence Service. You will deliver high quality analytical outputs, using relevant good technical skills in data management, business intelligence and analytics, and data science.

 

During this apprenticeship you will expect to:

       Cleanse and manage data (including processing)

       Quality assures data and analytical outputs following best practice guidelines.

       Integrate data feeds from disparate sources.

       Respond to incoming requests for information in a timely and efficient manner.

       Develop business intelligence reports.

       Plan, design, manage, execute, and report tests, using appropriate tools and techniques.

       Be highly numerate and use a variety of analytical techniques to provide high quality, timely analysis and intelligence relating to key priorities.

       Be adaptable when finding analytical solutions to problems, to analyse and triangulate data in innovative ways and present findings clearly to a range of audiences.

       Log, analyse and manage problems in order to identify and implement the appropriate solution, ensuring that the problem is fixed.

Data Fellowship:

    • Objective: Provides intermediate training in data analysis and visualization.
    • Key Skills: SQL, Python, data storytelling, and business intelligence tools.
    • Duration: 15 months, including workshops and coaching.
    • Outcome: Level 4 Data Analyst apprenticeship
    • Non-technical support within Multiverse: Learners will have access to our Community hub and a global network of apprentices and alumni (to support in success and achieve goals together) at the start of your apprenticeship.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Fulfils eligibility criteria of Apprenticeship Programme- level 2 qualification in English/Maths (GCSE or equivalent) OR successful resit of functional skills exam

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Must have previous experience of working in a data analytics role OR be able to demonstrate ability to utilise data at a basic level
  • Good understanding of analytical tools and is highly numerate
  • Experience of generating reports from the analysis of raw data
  • High degree of computer literacy (Microsoft Excel is essential)
  • Ability to use spreadsheets and relational databases
